2020 Update - CoronaVirus Edition

Today was day 3 of working at home due to COVID 19. Did you know that it is called that because it used to be called the 2019 novel coronavirus disease and we love to shorten things?

As far as gaming goes, in no particular order:

  • With the completion of final fantasy 12, I have beaten all main title final fantasy games.
  • I've been doing a 'replay' through of final fantasy games. I had recently beaten 1, and today I finished 2 on the iPhone during my lunch break. I played FF3 on Steam recently so up next is 4 (the DS port on Steam also)
  • I have war of the lions edition of final fantasy tactics on iPad. I don't know when I'll be playing it, but I like the dialog much more than the PlayStation 1 version, so I feel a bit more invested.
  • I joined a tabletop gaming group a little less than a year ago. we finished book 5 and book 6 of Pathfinder Adventure Path Curse of the Crimson Throne and now I am the GM running through the Kingmaker Adventure Path. This will be my third kingmaker group, and I have been enjoying it quite a bit. We have started talking about how to play remotely, so we will see how that goes.
  • Still playing Final Fantasy XIV as the MMO. The shadowbringers expansion is awesome.
I was also very lucky to get to see the Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concert in San Francisco last year, the Final Fantasy New Worlds concert in Berkeley earlier this year, and I have tickets to go see the Final Fantasy VII remake concert in San Francisco in July. Hoping that it isn't cancelled, but I understand if it is.

Take care everyone!

2018 Update

I haven't posted in a while! Lots of new updates:

  • Got an Xbox One X for the family for Christmas 2017.
    • Final Fantasy XV is pretty cool. The main story is short but the world itself is amazing. I haven't played any of the DLC yet but I may have a chance during the Christmas break.
  • I beat Final Fantasy I and III recently. Now playing Final Fantasy XII Zodiac Age on PC.
    • I played the PS One remake of Final Fantasy I because it fixed a few issues with the game, such as crit percentages and enemy weaknesses. It also allowed running. I played it through with two Fighters/Knights and two Red Mages/Wizards.
    • The DS port of Final Fantasy III was neat. I really enjoyed the customization of the classes and the party. I could see myself playing it again with a different party composition
    • The PC version of Final Fantasy XII Zodiac Age is great. 60 FPS, fast forward option, and the zodiac license board is much easier to use compared to the the original game. The new music is great too.
  • In Pathfinder, got two groups going.
    • Book six of Kingmaker, may see the end of the campaign in 2019...fingers crossed.
    • I am GMing a group, where the average age is less than 20 (three kids plus Jessica, haha).
  • Current MMO is Final Fantasy XIV, almost getting all caught up. I think the Blue Mage class is coming up soon and I'll be super excited to see how that plays.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to everyone :)

2016 Update

I am 18 hours into Final Fantasy XII. The bounty system (or what I like to call difficult optional boss system) makes 12 more like it's predecesors than Final Fantasy X and even X-2, which I thought were both a bit on the easy side.

I also got GTA V for Christmas which is a great game.

I am writing this on a Corsair mechanical keyboard (another Christmas gift), which I enjoy quite a bit.

Still waiting for an overhaul of WvW in GW2, but not holding my breath.

I'll be finishing the 3rd book of Kingmaker AP soon as a player and will be starting the Hell's Vengeance AP as soon as that is done. Probably a large group, between 5-7 players per session.

Xbox and Final Fantasy

A few months ago, I got an Xbox 360. The primary reason was to have a Netflix set-top box, but considering it came with 6 games, it got me started on console gaming again. P

Halo 4 and Mass Effect 3 were both fun, and I am currently playing GTA 4. I'll eventually try Borderland 2 and Red Dead Redemption. While I have Call of Duty, I doubt I'll actually play it. I also have Final Fantasy 13. Looking forward to playing that a bit later. And Free Games with Gold, I have Minecraft, Just Cause II, Thief, Assassin's Creed, so plenty more to play too.

On the computer, I have several Paradox Interactive games, including their main historical 4X strategy games Crusader Kings II, Europa Universalis IV, Victoria II, and Hearts of Iron III (Humble Bundle is great, isn't it?)

I previously also got Cities: Skylines, which is an amazing city building game.

After a long while, I finally finished Final Fantasy X-2 with 100% completion on first play through. Next game is Final Fantasy XII, which I am going to play on PCSX. So far, it seems like a good game.

I'm waiting for the expansion of Guild Wars 2 to be released before going back to it. Looking forward to the WvW changes, they sound interesting.

Currently Playing:
Final Fantasy XII - PCSX2 -  (2 hours in)
GTA IV - Xbox 360 - ~50% chapter one
Pathfinder Kingmaker game - Meradar, level 6 Witch

Currently Reading:
Way of Kings - 25%

2014 update

I haven't posted in a very long time! But I think I shall resume.

I haven't played DDO in a couple of months, having gotten GW2 in July and joined an active guild.

Pathfinder games continue, where I am both a player and a GM. Kingmaker is all good, and we are also doing the council of thieves Adventure Path.

I haven't been listening to many RPGMP3 podcasts but I am resuming with Runepunk by the BAG People.

Reading Neuromancer by William Gibson for the first time. After that, I plan on reading Snowcrash.
